Archaeologists remove an ancient toilet seat from Tel Lachish. The seat, dating to Hezekiah’s time, was found in a room full of smashed pagan objects. The scene of utter contempt toward paganism speaks to the thoroughness of Hezekiah’s religious reforms. There was precedent for Hezekiah’s actions: 2 Kings 10:27 records King Jehu of Israel turning a place of Baal-worship into a public toilet.
