King Ninus, son of Bel/Baal, husband of Semiramis. The second century B.C.E. historian Apollodorus states that “Ninus is Nimrod.” Ninus is credited as “founder of Nineveh” and “the first empire” (compare with Genesis 10:10-11), as well as being the first to train hunting dogs. The fifth century B.C.E. Greek historian Ctesias puts his reign c. 2200 B.C.E.—fitting with the biblical chronology of Nimrod.
