Interview: 2,600-Year-Old Ornate Ivories Discovered in Jerusalem

 

An extremely rare collection of ivory inlays were recently unearthed in Israel’s longest continually running archaeological excavation. These decorated ivory pieces were the first of their kind to be found in Jerusalem, and boast of the city’s opulence in the decades leading up to the Babylonian destruction of the city.

This week, host Brent Nagtegaal spoke with Givati dig co-director Dr. Yiftah Shalev about the ivory discovery, as well as other unique biblical-period finds from the excavation.
